The Rajasthan Police's special operations group (SOG) arrested former municipal councillor Naresh Deo Saharan on Saturday. He is linked to a 2020 forest guard recruitment exam paper leak. Saharan, who was also a student union president in Barmer, was detained after a raid on his home on Friday. SOG officials said that Saharan had connections with a wanted suspect named Jabbaram Jat. He allegedly played a role in leaking and distributing the exam paper. Earlier this month, the police arrested another suspect, Kanwararam Jat, who informed them about Saharan's involvement in the scheme. Saharan is accused of using his Innova car to transport seven candidates and a paper handler from Barmer to Udaipur. In Udaipur, the candidates received a solved version of the exam paper before the test scheduled for November 13, 2022. Investigators learned that, following Jabbaram's orders, the group moved to a rented house in Udaipur owned by another suspect. The solved papers were shared with the candidates via mobile phones and printed using connected devices. During questioning, Saharan admitted he had demanded Rs 6 lakh from each candidate, totaling Rs 42 lakh, in exchange for their selection.
