Ex-director sues Trump Tower management for fraud
A former director of the Trump Tower condo association in Chicago has filed a lawsuit against Trump Inc. and the building's management, claiming fraud and financial mismanagement. The lawsuit was filed in federal court on Tuesday. Onisim Dorneanu, who previously owned 16 units in the building, argues that he was retaliated against for raising concerns about financial problems. He alleges that his complaints led to his arrest while he was using the spa in the tower. The lawsuit names Trump Inc., the building management, and the current condo association president as defendants. Dorneanu's concerns began after he noticed frequent financial losses among investors and a lack of transparency regarding the hotel's operations. He claimed he reported these issues to the condo board president, but his concerns were dismissed. In June 2024, an investigation was launched, which Dorneanu calls a “cover-up." Dorneanu resigned from the condo board in August 2024 and was later barred from using the building's facilities. He was arrested on February 2 for misdemeanor trespassing after using the spa. The case against him was dropped on March 20, leaving open the possibility of it being reinstated. Dorneanu has begun selling his property in Trump Tower. Neither Trump Inc. nor the condo association president responded immediately to requests for comments on the lawsuit.
