Ex-Iloilo mayor praises Duterte's arrest as justice served
Former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog expressed gratitude for the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who faces allegations of crimes against humanity. Mabilog, who fled the country due to Duterte's accusations, sees this as a moment for justice and healing. Mabilog recalled the personal toll of the accusations on his family, including the impact on his late mother. He returned to the Philippines last year, seeking to clear his name and confident in the current administration's fairness. In contrast, around 650 Duterte supporters rallied in Bacolod City, calling the arrest unjust and a violation of Philippine sovereignty. Local officials stated that protests would be allowed if conducted properly, emphasizing the importance of due process.
