Exeter's Miriam Grubb debuts in professional MMA fight
Miriam Grubb, a 23-year-old mixed martial arts fighter from Exeter, is preparing for her professional debut at the O2 in London. She will compete against Rhi Rhi Hudson on the Cage Warriors 186 card, scheduled for Saturday. Grubb began her MMA training in 2021. Initially, she faced challenges, losing her first three fights, which led some to suggest she should stop. However, she persevered and has since won her last six matches, crediting her success to hard work and determination. Reflecting on her early experiences, Grubb shared, "I broke my nose in my second fight, got a nasty cut but I just loved it." She believes her passion for pushing herself helped her overcome early setbacks. Grubb likened MMA to "a chess match" due to its technical aspects. She has aspirations to remain in the sport for the next two to three years and dreams of headlining an event at the O2. "I want to be in there for a title fight because I know I've got what it takes," she said. With her strong training routine and dedication, Grubb is focused on making a name for herself in the MMA world.
