Exhibition honoring Margaret Olley opens in Australia soon
A new exhibition called "Painting Life: Margaret Olley and Works from the Collection" will open at the Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre on March 21, 2025. The exhibition will celebrate the life and artwork of renowned Australian artist Margaret Olley, who passed away in 2011. Margaret Olley is famous for her still life paintings. The exhibition will display her works, along with pieces created by other artists inspired by her. It will also showcase a recreation of her home studio, which is a permanent feature at the art center. Gallery Director Ingrid Hedgcock stated that Olley continues to inspire both local and international artists. Since its opening, many artists have been encouraged to create new works in response to Olley's studio setup. The exhibition highlights the evolution of the gallery's collection and offers visitors a chance to see how Olley's legacy influences contemporary art. Her studio was not just where she painted; it was also filled with objects that served as subjects for her art. "Painting Life" will be on display until August 31, 2025. The gallery will host various activities and events related to the exhibition. For more information, visitors can check the gallery's website.
