Experts monitor potential development of Hurricane Patty in Caribbean
Weather experts are monitoring a low-pressure system in the western Caribbean that could develop into Hurricane Patty next week. This follows the recent hurricanes Nadine and Oscar, which had limited impact on the U.S. but affected the Caribbean and Central America. The area below the Cayman Islands and east of Honduras and Nicaragua is expected to see significant rainfall. Warm ocean temperatures and low wind shear could support the formation of a tropical storm between October 30 and November 2. While a high-pressure system previously shielded the southeastern U.S. from recent storms, there is a possibility that this new system could track toward Florida or the southeastern mainland. The 2024 hurricane season continues until November 30.
