F1 Academy supports female drivers for Formula 1 careers
F1 Academy has confirmed its dedication to bringing a female driver to Formula 1 through a new partnership with the More Than Equal motorsport programme. This collaboration aims to support female drivers and help them advance in motorsport. F1 Academy, which started in 2023, is a series designed for female drivers at the Formula 4 level. It is led by Susie Wolff, a former F1 and Williams test driver. The More Than Equal programme is a fully funded initiative that offers personalized support to help female drivers overcome challenges in the sport. The programme was created by former F1 driver David Coulthard and entrepreneur Karel Komárek. Wolff has joined its advisory board and emphasized the importance of research in driving meaningful progress for women in motorsport. She believes that this partnership will help initiate real change. Dr. Fran Longstaff, head of research at More Than Equal, stressed the need for evidence to support female participation in motorsport. The research will inform effective strategies to ensure that female drivers receive the necessary support to thrive. Last year, Abbi Pulling from Britain won the F1 Academy title, earning a fully funded season in the British GB3 junior series with Rodin Motorsport.
