Fairview Park Women’s Club offers grants and scholarships

The Fairview Park Women’s Club is currently busy accepting applications for grants and scholarships. The club aims to support the local community through various fundraising efforts. Lori Paximadis, the club's Vice President, highlighted their biggest event, a wine tasting held every February. One of the key programs they offer is scholarships for graduating high school seniors. These are available to Fairview Park students with at least a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,000, with the application deadline set for April 15. Additionally, the club grants funds to local nonprofit organizations, typically between $100 and $400. The application for these grants is due by April 12. Last year, recipients included the Fairview Park Green Team and the Hugs & Hope Foundation. The club also offers the Marion Cook Education Grant for women aged 21 and older seeking further education. This grant assists with costs for college or vocational training. Grant amounts usually range from $500 to $1,000, and applications are due April 15 as well. Paximadis mentioned other charitable efforts year-round, such as helping families during the holidays and providing assistance with utility bills. The club aims to increase its membership and become more active on social media to spread the word about their initiatives and encourage community involvement.
