Faiz Ahmed Kidwai appointed as new director general of civil aviation in India

Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, a 1996-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new director general of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). He previously served as additional secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Kidwai replaces Vikram Dev Dutt, who stepped down on October 20, 2024, after becoming coal secretary. Dinesh Chand Sharma had been acting as DGCA since Dutt's departure. The ACC also appointed Ashutosh Agnihotri as chairman of the Food Corporation of India and Akash Tripathi as additional secretary in the power ministry.
