Fake cash van used for drug trafficking in Barmer
Police in Barmer district found a large stash of illegal drugs on March 23, 2025. They confiscated 738 kilograms of poppy husk from a vehicle disguised as a bank cash transport van. The vehicle was located in Lunwa Jagir village. The Gudamalani police acted on a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area. When they arrived, the suspects fled but left behind the vehicle, which had security uniforms and dummy CCTV cameras inside. Police also recovered a 12-bore rifle and seven live cartridges from the van. According to DSP Narendra Singh Meena, the operation was led by SHO Devi Chand Dhaka. The operation was part of a broader effort to combat drug trafficking and catch wanted criminals. The seized drugs have an estimated value of Rs 70 lakh. The suspects, identified as Naresh Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Surendra, and Sunil, reportedly used the area to store and distribute drugs at night. A case has been filed against them under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. Further investigation is ongoing.
