Families and journalists commemorate 15 years since Ampatuan massacre in the Philippines
Families of victims and journalists marked the 15th anniversary of the Ampatuan massacre on November 23, 2024. They held protests and memorials across the Philippines, emphasizing ongoing impunity for political violence and the slow judicial process. The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) reiterated their commitment to remember the victims and fight against similar injustices. While some perpetrators have been convicted, many suspects remain free. Events included marches in Metro Manila and candle-lighting ceremonies in other regions. Participants honored the memory of the 58 individuals killed, including 32 media workers, and called for continued efforts to ensure justice.
