In Kolkata, Krishnachandra Adhikari, the uncle of Kalyanmay Bhattacharya, appeared in court on Tuesday. He has ties to former education minister Partha Chatterjee and is connected to a major school recruitment scam. Bhattacharya had already given his statement to a judicial magistrate. Adhikari, who used to sell fish, claimed he acted on his nephew's instructions. Partha Chatterjee’s lawyer, Biplab Goswami, mentioned that Bhattacharya is educated and aware of the actions he took. During the trial, two businessmen have testified in a special court dealing with the money laundering case. Chatterjee's family has connections to a company called Ananata Texfab. His late wife Babli, daughter Sohini, and son-in-law Bhattacharya were all shareholders. Documents reveal that Babli held a 15% stake, Sohini owned 75%, and Bhattacharya had 10% of the company as of March 2014. Notably, Ananata Texfab had been struggling financially but had invested in another company linked to Arpita Mukherjee, a friend of Chatterjee.
