Family of police officers serves together in Derbyshire

PC Christopher Clayton has been a police officer for 32 years. As he considers retirement, he is proud to work alongside his three children at Derbyshire Constabulary. His daughter, PC Lauren Clayton, joined the force in 2020. Her brother, PC Jack Clayton, followed in 2022, and the youngest, PC Lewis Clayton, started this year. Christopher, 53, feels confident about the future of the police force. He said he never pushed his kids to join but is pleased they chose this path. "It has been fantastic really," he added. Lauren, who previously worked at a bakery, appreciates having her dad's support on the job. She remembers when she needed help with an arrest and texted him to come along. Jack always looked up to his father and admired his stories from work. After trying to join at 18 and facing rejection, he applied again after Lauren got hired. He often gets mistaken for his dad while working, which he finds amusing. Lewis also enjoys being part of a family of officers, calling it "quite fun and unique."
