Family remembers Marquia Hunter, fatally shot in Dayton
Family and friends gathered in Dayton on Saturday to remember Marquia Hunter, a woman fatally shot last Sunday. They released balloons in her favorite color, blue, as a tribute. Brenda Pope, Hunter’s aunt, shared memories of her niece. She described Hunter as someone who loved to make people laugh and always offered support. "She had a good heart," Pope said. Hunter was killed at City View Terrace apartments, and Terrell Johnson, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her six-year-old son, was arrested in connection with the shooting. Martino Gibson, Hunter’s brother, spoke about her kindness and willingness to help others. He said it is challenging to express her impact on people's lives. Pope also recalled a sweet moment from when Hunter was a child. She remembered picking her up after falling and how Hunter comforted her. Johnson is currently in jail facing multiple charges, including two counts of murder.
