Fareham Shopping Centre to close due to declining traffic
A popular store at Fareham Shopping Centre is set to close after 16 years of serving the community. The Canvas Printing Company announced the closure due to a decline in customers, as more people shop online. Store owner Nick Stockdale shared the news on social media, thanking loyal customers for their support over the years. He expressed sadness about the closure, saying Fareham would always hold a special place in their hearts. The store was known for its prints, photo restoration, and framing services. Although the Fareham location will close, the company will continue selling online and customers can visit their store in Cascades Shopping Centre for in-person shopping. Many residents expressed their sadness on social media, reminiscing about their positive experiences with the shop. Concerns about Fareham becoming a "ghost town" are growing. Some residents blame high rents for the decline in local shops. Others remembered when the shopping area was bustling with activity. In response to these challenges, Fareham Borough Council has announced plans for the Fareham Town Centre Regeneration Strategy. This long-term plan aims to revitalize the high street and attract more businesses, with significant funding already set aside for improvements.
