Faridabad-Ghaziabad expressway expected to cut travel time
The Haryana government has approved the long-awaited Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway. This expressway, which is 56 kilometers long, will improve travel times and reduce traffic congestion in the National Capital Region (NCR). The FNG Expressway will connect the cities of Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Faridabad. Currently, travelers moving between Faridabad and Ghaziabad have to take a longer route through Delhi, which results in heavy traffic. Once completed, the new expressway will cut travel time between Faridabad and Ghaziabad down to just 30 minutes. Construction of the expressway has been delayed for years due to pending approvals. However, its completion is expected by 2027. It will also help ease congestion in Delhi by allowing more direct travel between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The expressway will start near Maa Amrita Hospital in Greater Faridabad and cross the Yamuna River near Lalpur village. A bridge over the Yamuna will be built as part of this project. The two state governments, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, will share the costs equally. Designed as a six-lane highway, the expressway can be expanded to eight lanes in the future if needed. The total estimated cost of the project is around Rs 633 crore.
