Farmers can soon register for safflower procurement
Farmers will soon be able to register for safflower procurement. The state government is implementing this to help prevent price decreases. The Department of Agriculture Marketing has set the procurement price at ₹5,940 per quintal. Procurement centers will be established in districts where safflower is grown. These districts include Bidar, Dharwad, Davangere, Gadag, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Chitradurga, Koppal, and Belagavi. Minister Shivanand Patil announced that each farmer can sell a maximum of 20 quintals. This is based on an average of five quintals per acre. The payment will be sent directly to the farmers’ bank accounts. Farmers can register through primary agriculture cooperative societies, farmer producer companies, or taluk agriculture cooperative societies. They will need to provide their Farmers Registration and Unified Beneficiary Registration System Identity (FRUITS ID) Number to register.
