Farmers in Usilampatti protest for leaders' release

Farmers in Usilampatti staged a protest on Sunday, demanding the release of leaders arrested in Punjab. Over 20 farmers attempted to block a railway track but were stopped by police and arrested. Nethaji, a leader from the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Protection Association, spoke out against the arrests. He highlighted that arresting farmers’ leaders goes against their constitutional right to protest. Farmers from Tamil Nadu and other states joined the demonstration to show their support. The Punjab police intervened to prevent the protest from escalating. Many farmers from Tamil Nadu were also detained during the standoff. Mr. Nethaji emphasized the strong bond among farmers, stating that it is their duty to support one another in times of injustice. The group called for the immediate release of the arrested leaders in Punjab. Later in the evening, the detained farmers were released.
