Father and son killed in Merced County DUI crash
A father and son were killed in a crash in Merced County, California, on Saturday. The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Adrian Reyes and his 13-year-old son, Noah Reyes. They were struck by a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Melissa Rosales, who is suspected of driving under the influence. The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened on State Route 165, just south of Turner Avenue. Officer Eric Zuniga expressed frustration over the ongoing issue of drunk driving. He noted this type of tragic incident has happened again, following another DUI-related death the previous weekend. Adrian Reyes was remembered as a loving father and husband, known for going the extra mile for his children. His son, Noah, loved basketball, his dogs, and music by the late Tupac Shakur. Officer Zuniga urged the public to avoid drinking and driving, highlighting the many available transportation options like taxis and ride-sharing services. The driver, Rosales, suffered major injuries and will face felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges after her hospital release.
