Father dies saving son from truck accident in Cebu
A tragic accident occurred in Cebu City, Philippines, on March 20, when a 27-year-old father was killed while saving his three-year-old son. Their motorcycle was hit from behind by a speeding dump truck at around 10 p.m. The impact threw both father and son onto the pavement. Witnesses reported that the father instinctively grabbed his son as they were thrown off the motorcycle. To protect him from landing on the road, he threw his child under a parked truck. However, the father landed hard on the pavement and was struck by the truck, which led to his death. Neither the father nor the son were wearing helmets at the time. They were only a short distance from home, going to pick up the boy's mother from work. The dump truck driver, who was overtaking another vehicle, lost control and hit the motorcycle. After hitting the father and son, the dump truck continued moving and collided with three more motorcycles, but those riders managed to escape serious injury by jumping off. The truck driver fled the scene but later turned himself in to police. He faces charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide, Physical Injury, and Damage to Property. Thankfully, the three-year-old was hospitalized but is expected to be released soon with only a minor injury. The family remains in shock over the tragedy.
