Father mourns daughter found dead in North Nowra
A father is mourning the loss of his six-year-old daughter, Airlie Montgomery, who was found dead after wandering away from home. The tragic incident occurred in North Nowra, New South Wales, where Airlie fell from a rock ledge known as The Grotto. Airlie had autism, which her father, Corey Montgomery, says made her unaware of dangers. She had a unique way of communicating, often responding to questions with unrelated words. Mr. Montgomery noted that Airlie had never shown signs of wandering off before. On Sunday afternoon, Airlie left her yard for the first time on her own. Mr. Montgomery, who was working about six hours away, received a call from his partner, Katie Amess, that their daughter was missing. A large community search effort quickly mobilized, with around 1,000 locals joining the search. Sadly, Airlie’s body was found at the bottom of the ledge. Local police are treating her death as a tragic accident. A funeral service for Airlie is planned for next week. The family has also set up a GoFundMe page for donations.
