Feasibility study for Manila-Laguna ferry system to finish by early 2025
The feasibility study for a new ferry system in the Philippines, connecting Manila Bay, Pasig River, Marikina River, and Laguna de Bay, will be completed by the first quarter of 2025. This project is estimated to cost P20 billion. The ferry system aims to provide alternative transport routes across Metro Manila, with terminals designed for easy transfers to public utility vehicles and buses. Plans also include bike lanes to ferry stations and the use of electric boats. Additionally, the Department of Transportation plans to build 200 new seaports by 2028 to enhance connectivity among islands. The Philippine Ports Authority reported a 10% increase in passenger traffic from January to September, reaching over 60 million.
