Federal government plans multi-party conference on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa security after deadly attack
The military confirmed the deaths of 12 personnel in a terrorist attack in Bannu. In response, the federal government plans to hold a multi-party conference in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to discuss law and order issues, scheduled for early December. While a military operation in Balochistan was approved, similar action in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was rejected due to concerns from political parties and the provincial government. The conference will include various political and non-political groups. Recent attacks have resulted in around 60 military and police fatalities in ten days. Experts emphasize the need for community support in counter-terrorism efforts, which has been lacking since March 2022.
