Felon arrested for firing gun during argument
A 47-year-old man was arrested early Friday after police say he fired a gun during an argument with his girlfriend. Bobby Jackson Chavez, a convicted felon, was taken into custody following a disturbance call in Odessa. Officers arrived at the scene late Thursday night. A woman reported that Chavez became angry when she tried to leave his home. He followed her and, at one point, she heard gunshots behind her as she walked away. Police discovered two shell casings at the scene. Video footage showed someone firing a handgun twice. After securing a search warrant, officers searched Chavez's home and found a handgun and a shotgun. They also found a backpack and a pistol hidden in a shed outside. Chavez is facing several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of firearms. His bond has been set at $70,000.
