Ferozepur officials charged for distributing damaged vaccine
Police in Ferozepur have filed a case against three officials from the animal husbandry department. They are accused of distributing a damaged vaccine that was compromised after an AC unit caught fire. The vaccine was intended to prevent haemorrhagic septicaemia in animals. However, instead of returning the burnt vaccine, the officials allegedly handed it out to veterinary hospitals in the area. Many animals reportedly died after receiving the faulty vaccine. The matter came to light following a petition filed by a local resident, Gurmeet Singh, in April 2021. He reported that the deputy director, Dr. Harveen Kaur, and veterinary officer Dr. Jaswant Singh did not notify authorities about the incident. Instead, they allegedly altered records to hide the truth. An investigation found that veterinary inspector Hoshiar Singh was responsible for the vaccine's storage. All three officials now face charges related to negligence and tampering with government records.
