FIDE rejects claims of intentional loss by Ding Liren in Gukesh's championship victory
D Gukesh has become the youngest world chess champion after defeating Ding Liren 7.5-6.5 in Singapore. The match concluded with a critical blunder from Ding, which allowed Gukesh to secure the victory. Following the match, Russian Chess Federation chief Andrei Filatov claimed Ding lost intentionally and called for an investigation by the International Chess Federation (FIDE). He expressed doubts about Ding's performance in the decisive game. FIDE chief Arkady Dvorkovich dismissed the allegations, stating that mistakes are common in sports. Gukesh's win marks the first World Chess Championship title for an Indian since Viswanathan Anand in 2012.
