Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced that fighter jets will soon land on the state's national highways. This development will take place later this year. The highway between Dibrugarh and Jorhat is being upgraded to meet international standards. During a press conference in Dibrugarh, CM Sarma highlighted ongoing projects, including underwater tunnels and high-standard highways. He addressed criticism from his opponents, stating that these initiatives will lead to visible progress within a year. The Cabinet also made decisions to boost business in Assam. Shops in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Silchar will now be open 24 hours a day. Other urban areas can stay open until 2 a.m., and rural businesses will operate until 11 p.m. Workers' rights were also emphasized. The Chief Minister stated that no employee can work more than nine hours a day. Small businesses are limited to 48 hours a week. For 24-hour operations, employers must hire at least three staff members to manage shifts. CM Sarma believes these business-friendly policies will help create jobs and stimulate economic growth, especially during festivals like Bihu and Puja.
