Fiji's PM criticized for inconsistent leadership decisions
A former prime minister of Fiji, Mahendra Chaudhry, has criticized current Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for being "unfit to lead." This comes after Rabuka changed his mind about reinstating a Cabinet member, Lynda Tabuya. Tabuya was demoted after a private video of her dancing naked went viral. Rabuka had earlier suggested Tabuya could return to her role, but this week he deemed it "inappropriate" for her to be reinstated. He stated that other Members of Parliament have followed the law and Cabinet rules. Chaudhry pointed out Rabuka's inconsistent positions on important issues and expressed concerns about his ability to govern effectively. On social media, Chaudhry mocked Rabuka, asking if he was "forgetful or plain fickle." He emphasized the importance of consistent leadership. Just days ago, Rabuka reaffirmed that Tabuya would not return to a ministerial position. Tabuya had made a traditional apology, admitting her actions had brought disrepute to the parliament and the Fijian government. Despite being demoted in December after the video leaked, she remains a member of parliament and has since filed a complaint about the video leak. The ruling People's Alliance Party has chosen to give her a second chance. Attempts to reach Rabuka's office for comments have been unsuccessful.
