Film "Behind the Eight-Ball" explores functional addiction issues
Grant Rosenmeyer, Sean San José, Nora Dunn, Katherine Cunningham, and Alexis Allota are set to star in a new movie called "Behind the Eight-Ball." This film marks the directorial debut of Nathan Israileff and is inspired by his own life experiences. The story follows Trevor, played by Rosenmeyer, who is a functioning cocaine addict. His substance abuse begins to threaten his career and close relationships. The film explores his struggle to confront his addiction and seek redemption as his life spirals out of control. Israileff describes the movie as a "love letter" to functional addicts. He hopes it will encourage them to speak up about their issues and understand that many people share similar feelings of depression and shame. The film is being produced by Israileff and Rosenmeyer alongside Katelyn Henslin, with co-producers Patrick Ryan Richter and Yajaira Marie Quinto. It is currently in production in Chicago, with David Foy serving as the director of photography. The cast also includes Christopher R. Ellis and Justin Paul. Each actor has experience in notable projects, with Rosenmeyer known for his role in "The Royal Tenenbaums" and San José gaining acclaim for his recent work in "Sing Sing." Dunn is famous from "Saturday Night Live" and has also appeared on ABC's "Home Economics." The film is generating buzz as it showcases a sensitive subject while featuring a talented group of actors and filmmakers.
