Film "Bunny" shot in real East Village apartment building
At the recent South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, the crew of the film "Bunny" discussed their unique shooting experience. They filmed the movie in their own apartment building in New York's East Village. "Bunny" tells the story of a hustler who faces danger when a job goes wrong. Along with his friend Dino, he spends a hot summer day trying to hide dead bodies while dealing with quirky neighbors and unexpected problems. The plot is filled with humor and chaos as a series of wild events unfold. The film's director, Ben Jacobson, and screenwriters Mo Stark and Stefan Marolachakis talked about how their real-life neighbors contributed to the film. They cast people who live in the building and used their familiar surroundings to make the story feel authentic. Stark noted that the setting is special to them, saying, “That’s my actual building.” Marolachakis added a light-hearted comment about their long history in the neighborhood, joking that they prepared for the film by living there for 20 years. "Bunny" premiered on March 8, 2025, and has drawn attention for its mix of comedy and drama.
