Film Movement acquires rights to "Shall We Dance?" restoration
Film Movement has acquired North American rights to the 4K restoration of the 1996 film "Shall We Dance?" The deal includes the original, uncut version, which has not been available in North America before. The restored film will be released in theaters starting May 30 at New York’s Film Forum. This version is 17 minutes longer than the previous release by Miramax. Film Movement will also screen 4K restorations of two earlier films by director Masayuki Suô, "Fancy Dance" and "Sumo Do, Sumo Don’t," during the "Shall We Dance?" run. Both will be available digitally at the end of 2025.
