Film society advocates for drug-free cinema culture
The Rasmi Film Society has taken a strong stance against drugs in cinema. During a meeting on March 19, 2025, the society adopted a resolution that condemns both the use of drugs in films and on film sets. The executive committee emphasized the importance of creating a drug-free culture in cinema. They warned that showing drug use on screen could negatively impact young audiences and promote unhealthy behaviors. The meeting also honored the memories of several notable figures who recently passed away. This includes scriptwriter Sreevaraham Balakrishnan and lyricist Mankombu Gopalakrishnan, along with social activists K.K. Kochu and A.K. Puthussery. President Manambur Rajanbabu led the meeting, while Secretary Anil K. Kurupan welcomed attendees. Various members spoke during the gathering to support the resolution.
