Finland denies U.S. egg import requests over agreements
Finland has declined U.S. requests for egg imports due to a lack of market access agreements. American officials are seeking help as egg prices soar amid a bird flu outbreak that has severely impacted poultry farms. In February, egg prices in the U.S. rose by 59% year-over-year, reaching an average wholesale price of over $8 per dozen. Although prices have slightly decreased to around $6, they remain high. The Finnish Poultry Association stated that exporting eggs to the U.S. is not feasible without extensive negotiations and approvals. Even if exports were possible, Finland's production would not significantly alleviate the U.S. egg shortage.
