Fire at Miramar building triggers evacuation, no injuries
A fire broke out at the Oceanic Apartments in Miramar around 2 PM, causing a large scare among residents. Thick black smoke rose into the sky and could be seen from nearby areas like Reis Magos and Dona Paula. The fire department responded quickly, sending four fire trucks to the scene. Firefighters worked alongside Goa Police to control the flames. However, their efforts were slowed down by onlookers who gathered to see the incident. Initial investigations suggest the fire may have started in a storeroom on the terrace belonging to resident Preeti Kumar. The storeroom was filled with clothes, cupboards, and plastic items. There were also some chemicals present, which may have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. Residents reported that welding work was taking place near the storeroom, which could have started the fire. Thankfully, all residents were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Fire crews managed to get the fire under control, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
