Fire at Rajouri hospital controlled, no casualties reported
A fire occurred this morning in the basement of the Government Medical College and Hospital in Rajouri. Smoke quickly filled the upper floors, but a fast evacuation saved lives. Hospital staff and volunteers acted quickly to alert and evacuate patients and attendants. The fire began in the basement after some attendants noticed smoke and notified the staff. Soon, police and firefighters arrived on the scene. Firefighters managed to control the flames before they could spread to the outpatient department. Local citizens expressed concerns about the hospital’s fire safety measures. In response, the deputy commissioner of Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, promised an investigation. He visited the hospital to ensure that healthcare services would be resumed as soon as possible.
