Fire damages historic Pacific Dining Car in Los Angeles
This morning, a fire broke out at the historic Pacific Dining Car restaurant in Westlake, Los Angeles. Around 100 firefighters responded to the blaze that began shortly after 6:50 a.m. The restaurant, which has been closed since 2020, suffered damage to its attic and roof. Firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes. They quickly identified that the fire was in the attic. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported since the building was vacant. It took about 45 minutes to control the flames. This incident marks the second fire at the Pacific Dining Car in less than a year. Fire investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the blaze. The Pacific Dining Car, famous for its fine steaks and 24-hour service, has a rich history. It was built in 1921 and moved to its current location in 1923. The restaurant is also noted for its appearances in various films, including "Training Day." In 2023, part of the site was recognized as a historic-cultural monument by the Los Angeles City Council.
