Fire destroys 30 shanties and 2 factories in Delhi
A large fire broke out in Dwarka Mor, west Delhi, early Tuesday morning. The fire destroyed 30 shanties, two factories, and several shops. Fortunately, no one was injured, according to a Delhi Fire Services official. Firefighters received the first call about the blaze at 2:07 a.m. They quickly sent 11 fire tenders to the scene. When they arrived, the fire had already spread across nearly 10,000 square feet. The fire was brought under control by 3:50 a.m. Residents whose homes were lost searched through the ashes for their belongings. Most of the nearby area, which is home to about 120 other shanties, remained unharmed. Many residents work as daily wage laborers in local factories.
