Fire destroys machine shop at San Rafael Airport
Firefighters controlled a fire at a sheet metal building at San Rafael Airport early Sunday. The 2,000-square-foot structure was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived around 4:51 a.m. The building, used as a machine shop, is a total loss, but no injuries were reported. It contained flammable liquids, prompting a hazardous materials team to assist with cleanup. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings.
