Fire destroys Morehead Tavern in Charlotte; cause unclear
The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a large fire at a popular nightspot on Saturday, March 15. The blaze began just before 8 a.m. at Morehead Tavern, a well-known bar and club in the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Firefighters faced significant challenges as the fire caused the roof and upper-level floor of the building to collapse. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force estimates the damage to be around $150,000. Investigators indicated that the complete collapse complicates efforts to determine the cause of the fire. Dramatic drone footage showed firefighters actively battling the blaze from various angles. The footage was shared by the Charlotte Fire Department on social media. Despite the destruction, all fire crews managed to evacuate safely before conditions worsened.
