First responders honor Houston firefighter Marcelo Garcia III killed in warehouse fire
First responders in Houston honored firefighter Marcelo Garcia III, who died while fighting a warehouse fire. A procession began Sunday morning from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to escort his body to a funeral home. Yesenia Espinoza, 38, has been charged with first-degree arson for allegedly starting the fire. Investigators used facial recognition software to identify her from surveillance footage. Garcia, 42, is the 83rd Houston firefighter to die in the line of duty. Public viewing for Garcia will be held on November 12, followed by a funeral service on November 13. His bond was set at $100,000. Mayor John Whitmire has asked residents to turn on vehicle headlights in his memory.
