First-time buyers excited to start life in Devon
On a recent episode of "Escape to the Country," host Sonali Shah was thrilled for a couple looking to buy their first home. Matt and Jamie are ready to start a new life in Devon and have a budget of £550,000. They hoped to find a house with three to four bedrooms, a garden, and a garage. Sonali helped them search for their dream home. They were impressed by a stone cottage that was on the market for their budget. It featured a large kitchen and even had a treehouse in the garden. Sonali also showed them a 19th-century converted barn, which they found charming with its high ceilings and beams. Matt was trying to picture how it would work for them. They were also captivated by a "Mystery House" Sonali presented, which combined elements of the first two homes. The couple admired the grand entrance and beautiful fireplace, with Jamie calling the kitchen a "showstopper." Although they liked the Mystery House, they were concerned about needing a workshop for Matt. They were surprised to learn it was actually under budget at £530,000. Matt expressed some practical concerns but still liked the house. Ultimately, Matt and Jamie decided that the stone cottage was the best fit for them and made an offer. They felt it met all their needs and were excited about starting a family there. Sonali expressed her happiness for them as they embark on this new chapter in Devon. The show airs on BBC One weekdays at 3pm.
