Fitbit launches personalized sleep schedule for U.S. users

Fitbit has introduced a new feature for its users in the U.S. called the Personalized Sleep Schedule Lab. This feature helps users decide what time to go to bed each night by looking at their daily feelings and logged sleep data. The process involves a brief survey users will take each morning after logging sleep. This survey includes various questions about factors that may impact their sleep. There are also three additional one-question surveys throughout the day and a final survey before sleep, which users must complete to receive a recommended sleep schedule. This feature is experimental and requires active participation from users. While other products like Garmin's Sleep Coach gather data passively, Fitbit’s approach relies on direct input from users. Fitbit believes this could lead to new features in the future. To use this feature, participants must be at least 18 years old and live in the U.S. It is only available to Android users, as Google owns Fitbit. Users do not need a specific Fitbit device, as manual logging of sleep hours is also an option. The Personalized Sleep Schedule Lab is part of Fitbit's ongoing exploration of sleep technology, following two previous trials that ended in February 2025. Both earlier projects utilized generative AI technology, which can sometimes produce inaccurate or misleading results. Users have been warned about this possibility. Fitbit's plans for these sleep labs were first announced in November 2024, and the latest feature is expected to run for about three months.
