Five arrested for thefts in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh
Five people connected to a property crime gang were arrested in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. This gang is linked to various thefts, including chain snatchings and burglaries in homes and temples. Police recovered stolen items worth ₹35 lakh, including gold, silver, and two motorcycles. Superintendent of Police V. N. Manikanta Chandolu reported that four of the suspects already had multiple criminal cases against them. The arrests followed an investigation into a stolen motorcycle reported on March 6. The police caught the suspects on P. Kothakota road in Chittoor after tracing their steps. The gang members were identified as G Hemachandra, K. Suresh, Shaik Mastan, P. Varaprasad, and R Sanjay Kumar. Hemachandra had 60 previous cases against him, while Suresh had 27. Mastan faced 57 cases, and Varaprasad had one. In addition to the stolen items, police also registered a PD Act against Hemachandra and Suresh. The recovered goods included 316 grams of gold, 3.15 kilograms of silver, two motorcycles, and a television.
