Five arrested in Madhura Nagar gaming scam
Police in Madhura Nagar have arrested five people for running an international online gaming and betting racket. The group was operating from a rented flat and targeted financially vulnerable individuals. The arrested individuals include Sonule Srikanth, Gurle Harish, Gurle Satish Kumar, Sonule Thirupathi, and Ade Vinod, all from Kagaz Nagar. They were running online betting operations and managing victim registrations and transactions. According to police, the gang opened bank accounts and obtained SIM cards using the names of vulnerable individuals. They lured victims by promising small profits but later manipulated the gaming outcomes. This led victims to suffer significant financial losses. Authorities seized several items during the bust. This included three laptops, one tablet, two color printers, and cash amounting to ₹1.55 lakh. They also found ₹2,13,697 in bank accounts linked to the betting operations. The accused, who were carpenters, had experience in betting. They had recently rented the flat to expand their operations and used various online platforms to attract bettors. They created fake videos showing supposed winners to deceive new victims and charged a registration fee of ₹1,000 for participation.
