Five militants arrested in Manipur operations

Police in Manipur reported the arrest of five militants during separate operations on March 23 and 24, 2025. Three members of the banned group PREPAK (PRO) were taken into custody in Kumbi Terakhong, Bishnupur district. They have been identified as Oinam Abung Meitei, Yumlembam Romesh Singh, and R.K. Navy Meitei. Authorities recovered weapons including a .303 LMG and ammunition from them. Additionally, another PREPAK member named Md Taj Khan, also known as Romen, was arrested in Mantripukhri Bazar, Imphal East district. Police accuse him of extorting local shops. A member of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), identified as Shagolshem Prabin Singh, was also captured in Ningomvam Lamkhai, Imphal West district. He allegedly participated in extorting transport vehicles. These arrests are part of ongoing efforts by police to curb militant activities in the region.
