Five NFL draft prospects saw significant stock declines
The NFL Draft is coming up, and some top prospects have seen their stock fall due to disappointing performances in 2024. Here are five players whose futures look less bright after last season. Quinn Ewers, a quarterback from Texas, had a tough year. His passing grade dropped significantly from 85.6 in 2023 to 71.8 in 2024. Ewers struggled with decision-making and presence in the pocket, which might push him down to the third round in the draft. Wide receiver Malik Bond saw his prospects dim as well. After a promising 2023 season with 302 yards and four touchdowns on deep throws, he only managed five total touchdowns in 2024. His teammate, Matthew Golden, has now taken the spotlight, and Bond is also likely to be a third-round pick. On defense, edge rusher Zion Walker was once viewed as a top-10 draft selection. He had an impressive year in 2023 but fell off in 2024, finishing with fewer pressures and a lower grade. He’s now projected to go in the third round as well. Running back Dominic Gordon's decline is notable. After winning the Doak Walker Award in 2023, he struggled in 2024, rushing for just 854 yards. This drop in performance puts him in a tough spot in a deep running back class, making him a Day 3 pick. Lastly, defensive tackle Tyree Cross saw a significant drop in his statistics from 2023 to 2024. His grade went from one of the best to among the lowest in his position group. With his age and size concerns, he is now projected to be a sixth-round pick. These players, once highly regarded, now have to work hard to improve their draft positions.
