Flood watch issued for Queensland's North Tropical Coast

A flood watch has been issued for Queensland's North Tropical Coast due to expected heavy rain this week. Areas near Innisfail have already received 100 millimeters of rain, with forecasts predicting up to 200 millimeters between Townsville and Cairns. The flood watch extends from Townsville to Cooktown, with moderate flood warnings for the Tully River and minor warnings for the Johnstone, Mulgrave, and Russell Rivers. Ingham, which faced severe flooding last month, is particularly vulnerable as the wet weather could lead to renewed landslips. The Bureau of Meteorology also forecasts heavy rain along the Gulf of Carpentaria coastline. A strong wind warning remains in effect for the K'gari Coast, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and Townsville coast.
