Florida Gulf Coast University hosts 5K for veterans' charity
On March 8, Florida Gulf Coast University hosted a 5K walk to support the Wounded Warrior Project. The event attracted 120 participants and was organized by Best Home Services, a company that provides HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services. All the money raised from the walk will go to the Wounded Warrior Project. This organization helps wounded veterans and their families through mental health support, career counseling, and long-term care services. The exact amount of money raised during the event has not yet been reported. Since its founding in 2003, the Wounded Warrior Project has worked to meet the needs of veterans, their families, and caregivers. Bill Watkins, the General Manager of Best Home Services, noted that many of their employees and customers are veterans. He expressed the company's commitment to educating the community about the Wounded Warrior Project. Jake Norotsky, a representative from the Wounded Warrior Project and a combat veteran, also spoke at the event. He shared how his military experiences affected his family life. After receiving support from the project, he found it easier to manage his roles as a father and husband.
