Food safety teams fined vendors in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar
Food safety teams in Mohali have taken strong action against food vendors using rotten and poor-quality ingredients. In the past three days, they collected 15 samples and issued five fines. This effort follows reports of rotten vegetables and unsafe kitchen conditions at Chinese fast food vendors in Mataur. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal stated that food safety teams will conduct regular checks to ensure public safety. During inspections, they destroyed about 40 kilograms of rotten vegetables and unfit noodles and sauces. Authorities have also set up random checkposts to monitor the transportation of chicken, milk, and other food items. The DC warned vendors to maintain high hygiene standards, or they would face serious consequences. District Health Officer Dr. Amrit Warring shared details about recent inspections. Four samples were taken from food joints in Kharar, while three samples were collected in Mataur. In Zirakpur, teams inspected food transportation at night and took additional samples. On Friday, more inspections in Kurali led to the collection of samples from food vendors, with two fined for unsanitary conditions. During these checks, 7 kilograms of rotten vegetables and 5 kilograms of stale noodles were destroyed on-site. The health officer urged residents to be cautious about food quality and reminded vendors to follow hygiene standards. Inspections will continue.
