Ford recalls cars over gearbox issue affecting thousands

Ford is recalling all vehicles that have a faulty gearbox. This issue affects thousands of car owners who may face problems when trying to put their cars in reverse. The company has advised these owners to visit their dealerships for a free replacement part. The recall includes several models, such as the 2025 Bronco and mid-size Ranger. Ford became aware of the gearbox problem last month during production at its Livonia Transmission Plant in Michigan. Dealers have been directed to replace the faulty main control valves at no cost to the owners. Those affected will receive a letter by May explaining how to get their vehicle fixed and seek compensation. Other models included in the recall are the Mustang, Explorer, and Lincoln Aviator. This recall follows another situation where more than 60,000 Volkswagen and Audi electric vehicles were recalled due to a missing gear indicator. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highlighted that the absence of this detail could confuse drivers, increasing the risk of the vehicle rolling away. Volkswagen owners will be notified by April 25. Dealerships will update the brake control unit software for free after the notifications. Additionally, the NHTSA warned about a potential fire risk due to improperly installed engine covers in some Volkswagen models. Dealers will also address this issue at no charge. Ford has yet to issue a comment on these matters.
